TANZANIA ADVANCES ITS STRATEGY POSITION IN THE GLOBAL MINING SECTOR AT MINING INDABA 2026
The Minister for Minerals, Hon. Anthony Mavunde, will head Tanzania’s delegation to the Mining Indaba 2026 International Conference, to be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 8th to 12th February 2026.
Tanzania’s delegation brings together professionals from the Ministry of Minerals and its institutions, the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA), as well as private-sector stakeholders including the Tanzania Chamber of Mines (TCM), Federation of Mining Associations (FEMATA), Tanzania Women in Mining (TAWOMA), the Tanzania Youth in Mining (TYM) mining companies, financial institutions, service providers, mineral traders, and other actors across the mineral value chain, alongside key stakeholders from the United States of America, the European Union, and Canada.
Tanzania’s participation in Mining Indaba 2026 is part of a national strategy to position the country as a key partner in the global minerals value chain, at a time when Africa, including Tanzania, is increasingly recognized as a strategic supplier of minerals critical to clean energy, industrial growth, and sustainable development worldwide.
During the conference, Hon. Mavunde will participate in the Ministerial Symposium hosted by Hon. Gwede Mantashe, Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources of the Republic of South Africa, as well as in other high-level discussions bringing together ministers, global mining executives, investors, and financial institutions. These engagements will focus on policy innovation, investment promotion, capital mobilization, and opportunities in Africa’s critical strategic minerals.
In addition, the Minister is expected to hold strategic meetings with key stakeholders from the United States, the European Union (EU), and Canada to attract new investment and strengthen existing partnerships, as well as with stakeholders from companies already operating in Tanzania. Stakeholders from participating associations will also engage in meetings to explore collaboration opportunities and promote their activities.
Mining Indaba 2026 will be held under the theme “Stronger Together: Progress Through Partnerships,” emphasizing collaboration between governments, the private sector, and development partners in building a competitive, resilient, and sustainable mining sector for Africa.
